Rotator Cuff Repair

One of the most common causes of shoulder pain in middle-aged adults and older, a rotator cuff tear may occur with overuse of the arm in overhead activities, or as the result of trauma during motor accidents. Conservative treatments include rest, use of a shoulder sling, pain medications, steroidal injections and certain exercises, can provide relief. However, if symptoms persist, surgery may be required to fix the tendon back to the shoulder bone, by either the more traditional method with a large incision on the shoulder, or the minimally invasive method with an arthroscope.
